TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
It has come to my notice that Gerd Meuer is trying to digitalize some works (manuscripts, films, interviews, authorized email messages and private letters) of Professor Wole Soyinka in his possession. I have known Gerd for years and my last encounter with him in South Africa in 2007 distinguishes him as a great promoter of Professor Wole Soyinka, a winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1986.
Gerds commitment to the promotion of Wole Soyinkas work can only find parallel in the contributions that Suzan Wenger (another German) made to the promotion of Osun festival in Osogbo, Nigeria.
The importance of this project is evident in the fact that the works of Soyinka are sought and consulted worldwide. Having them digitalized would be a major contribution to knowledge. It is within this framework that I am strongly supporting the project.
